Microsoft සමාගම සිය ප්‍රධාන නිපැයුම වන වින්ඩොස් මෙහෙයුම් පද්ධතියේ මීළග සංස්කරණය වන Windows 7 මෙහෙයුම් පද්ධතිය නිල වශයෙන් නිකුත්කරන දිනය වන්නෙ ඔක්තොබර් 22 යි . මෙහි beta සංස්කරණය පෙබරවාරි මස නිකුත් වූ අතර Release Candidate (RC) සංස්කරණය මැයි මස නිකුත් විය . beta සංස්කරණය ඉදිරි සතියේදී කල් ඉකුත්( expire ) වන අතර Release Candidate (RC) සංස්කරණය අගොස්තු 15 දක්වා නොමිලේ ඩවුන්ලොඩ් කිරීමට පුළුවන .Windows 7 මෙහෙයුම් පද්ධතිය සංස්කරණ 6 කින් නිකුත්වීමට නියමිතයි . ඒවා නම් OEM ( Starter Edition ), Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise හා Ultimate යන සංස්කරණයි .
